Yes and no. 'Yes' because the symptoms of PTSD include an increased fight or flight response and a MUCH greater risk of suicide. 'No' because not all combat veterans suffer from PTSD.

What makes you think taking guns away from people with PTSD will prevent suicides? Doing suicide without a gun is easy. Especially if you have PTSD: simply take the medication you usually take (including Alprazolam) and drink a few beers. Unless somebody puts you on a ventilator, you will suffocate. Countless people have killed themselves that way, many of them unintentionally.
