My family availed itself of that assistance in 1978. Probably not useful in NZ in 2023, but that's not really useful info. It's not like you're in Shit Central and needing a flight out.

I'm not saying embassies and consulates are useful - they demonstrably are (in fact, it's generally easier for me, as a citizen of a Commonwealth nation, to access some consular services than it is for other people). 

Simply pointing out to GS that *I* would have no use for an *American* embassy.
