I ordered some food to be delivered. Normally I request they leave the order at the door and ring the bell so I can corral the dogs. Yesterday I saw the driver pull up and, without thinking, I opened the door to meet him there. He handed me the food and Harley the Whirling Dervish scampered out the door. I let out a little yelp and turned to set the food down on the window seat. When I turned back around the young man had spun back around, crouched down, and had his arms out to his sides. This startled Harley so much she just stopped. I was able to grab her and get her back in the house without a chase through the neighborhood.
I thanked him and then found the email for the restaurant and sent them a thank you note for this young man going above and beyond. This morning I had an email from the owner of the restaurant thanking me and assuring me that they would share the compliment with the team and the delivery guy in particular.
I'm glad I had already left a nice tip...a little bigger than I usually would.
You mean, the delivery guy was doing like, a welcoming gesture? Like a, "there's my boy/girl!" kind of thing?
