If you are an atheist who does not acknowledged the possible existence of a god, or gods, then you deserve a badge of stupidity. You are making a claim based on no evidence, not an assumption.

A smart atheist assumes there is no God, for whatever good reason, not declare God(s) an impossible thing. There is no proof that there are no deities. The thing is there is no proof they exist either.

This atheist does not lack intelligence; furthermore metaphysics provides the explanation for gods. Identity enhancement, and nothing more. All the faith-based "evidence" for god is local to the identity; i.e. the one who manifests stigmata, the church with the icon who bleeds, the resurrected Christ. All require an investment of identity in terms of faith.

I invest my faith in love; and my contention that god does not exist is absolute.

As for the background noise that sprang up, I have a certain trust in dtango's character. We are all anti-something (I have no love of Christianity) but that does not make us evil nor racist; that too is artifact of identity. In terms of justification, my judgement is moral. Christianity is a flawed dogma beyond redemption, but the Christian is a human. A life; and it is my lot to love life.
