I agree. There's too many Republicans who won't turn out because of all his legal woes, fascist statements, or both. And just like 2020, this election is about turnout.

WASHINGTON, March 25 (Reuters) - Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski said she cannot back her party's nominee for the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump, and did not rule out becoming an independent.

"I wish that as Republicans, we had ... a nominee that I could get behind,” Murkowski told CNN. "I certainly can’t get behind Donald Trump."

In an interview, Murkowski would not say if she would remain a Republican, CNN reported on Sunday.

Asked if she would become an independent, Murkowski said: "Oh, I think I’m very independent minded. ... I just regret that our party is seemingly becoming a party of Donald Trump."

She said she was navigating her way through some interesting political times. "Let's just leave it at that," she said.

While her and Cheney are distinctly in the minority in the GOP, they do represent 15-20% of Republicans, from what I've read.

Murkowski is unique among senators, in that she doesn’t need her party’s machinery to win an election. In her last election, she lost the primary but won as a write-in.
