Depends. Geographers, historians, and sociologists say it’s a continent. But, because it’s contiguous with Asia, geologists say it’s simply part of Eurasia. There’s even a minority of geologists who make the case that Africa is part of the same continent - ‘Afro-Eurasia’. So the number of continents is either seven, six, five or four (some count the Americas as one).

It’s dealers choice, really.
