The truly intelligent, in my opinion, may buy the car or not. But they will buy it or not based on the influence of religion or atheism. They will buy it or not for their own reasons, not those peddled buy salesmen.
*Buy it or not *not* based on the influence... I forgot that extra "not" in my original response.
The idea has existed to be sure. But it wasn't allowed to breath until the advent of the scientific revolution. Atheists were relegated to basements and dark forests due to the power of the church.
Because it was confined to secrecy corporatism hasn't been as able to permeate it. IMO.
