It is fine to not be a fan of somebody else's choices or likes, but you don't have to be a loud mouth shithead about it.
For instance, I fucking hate rap, with every fiber of my being, if it comes up in conversation, I will state my udder disdain for it. However, what I will NOT do is, tell others they should not like it, or listen to it. I will NOT go to a rap concert and protest it. If it comes on while I am watching something, I will change the channel, or turn it down. It's rather simple. You do you, and let me do me.
That's a good way of looking at it. You should also add don't antagonize by parading your preferences in other people's faces. Like rap, or country music, you know, whatever.
For instance, I knew a straight man who knew a gay man and he always used to shove his straightness in the gay man's face at every opportunity.
No one should do things like that.
