Remember, up until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, a significant proportion of the American public favored staying out of the war. For 27 months blitzkrieg tore apart everything it touched, and even the draft act term extension -- from one year to thirty months -- was only renewed by one vote. We would've let the world burn if we weren't dragged into it.
