The last time my missus went under the knife, she explicitly stated her religious affiliation (‘none’) on the form and asked not to be visited by clergy. Didn’t matter, the hospital chaplain still showed up. If it hadn’t been for the midazolam, the hospital might have had to advertise for a new chaplain.

Yep, last time I was in the hospital I also was visited by the chaplain though I said 'none' for religious affiliation. I kind of figure a couple days in ICU made them think I had changed my mind. He wanted to know if I wanted him to pray with me to thank god. I told him if I was going to thank anyone it would be the medical team that took care of me.
