Maybe they are, but not in the quantities put in the vaccines. For one thing, when we still used Thimerosal in vaccines (they removed it out of an abundance of caution over a decade ago), it was at about a tenth of a milligram. The lowest lethal dose in humans is 60 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. So, a newborn 8-pound baby hypothetically receiving a thimerosal-positive vaccine would be exposed to 1/2177th of the lowest possible lethal dose. Forgive me if I don't think such a low concentration is likely to cause harm.
Drugs are notoriously easy to produce and dose, esp. in large-scale manufacturing settings.
