How is this not an economic suicide?
The US imported $476 billion from Mexico last year - more than any other country. A 25 percent tariff on those imports would translate into a roughly $100 billion annual tax — or ~$1 trillion over the next decade.
The thing about the whole thing is, Trump isn't proposing these tariffs as an economic measure. His goal isn't protectionism or inflation or bringing companies to the US or bettering wages or increasing employment.
His goal is punishment over issues that have bugger all to do with economics.
