That's because like many theists I have encountered, you don't seem to understand that atheism and atheist, are two different things. 

There is no such thing as "In the name of atheism"  because atheism not an ideology...

So when the Soviet Union was in the process of slaughtering priests and monks, destroying churches, and pushing "State Atheism" in schools with the explicit goal of reducing the religious population and creating a new, educated atheist society had nothing to do with atheism?

Correct, well done, you got one right. Though I suspect you don't know why of course. The clue is still your inability to understand that atheism and atheist are two different things. Try replacing "atheist society" with atheistic as well, that might help. 

You see I doubt Ted Bundy believed mermaids were real, now does this mean being a serial killer has anything to do with not believing mermaids are real? Think hard now, I am sure you can do this if you really try to think critically. Even if Ted Bundy decided he wanted everyone else to share his disbelief, and set about slaughtering those who believed mermaids were real of course.
