It doesn't, directly, but it adds an element of fun to it, thus increasing motivation. I'll do a run this morning to see if I can beat my neighbor's time. Human nature. I'm surprised this isn't obvious to you. Perhaps you don't find fun in games of this sort.
Yeh, it's mainly psychological.
Obviously motivation and psychology are very important though.
When your progress is tracked and on screen with data, it makes it seem like a more concrete achievement.
Beyond that it has maps which show commonly used routes, and probably routes you never thought about using.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
