That’s an originally Soviet movie right? I’ve found the 2002 version and I will see it when I have time.
I the meantime, Hollywood is burning. People are still talking about climate change as a future possibility. On a personal level, I thin I am observing the gradual shift of our planet into a more different environment at least since the late 90’s. Even then there were these heatwaves, floods and large fires that were designated as “not normal”. Now it is sort of becoming the new normal.
And Mr. Trump (a climate change denier) is now saying that he wants Greenland. That because he hopes to find new mineral in the arctic after the ice melts down completely and he wants more control over the north-sea trade route (that will also mean a lot to Russia and China).
So Trump + world powers know exactly what is happening but they are refusing to admit it because they don’t want to.
So if we are the “conscious” element in all of this, aren’t we a little too unconscious?
Of course human action and the evolution of our ways of consumption will play a crucial role. But I like to think that if the planet had no consciousness at all, we would have annihilated ourselves already. A bit like Adam Smith’s “invisible hand” if you like.
