Quote:Some other (like me). Get there through more spiritual means. “Karma Yoga” for instance means action. It means that if we want a planet (for instance) we need to fight (take action) in order to protect this planet from being completely annihilated. Is Karma Yoga part of the Hindu religion? Why should we care what this religion claims, unless you can demonstrate some objective evidence to support it?
Quote:eastern religions have very clear schemes that explain this human need of ever wanting more stuff even at the price of destroying its own living space.
We don't need religion for that of course, and even if it does, so what? This on its own doesn't suggest that religion is true, or that its deities are real.
Quote:I’m not a promoter of any mythologyHmm, so what do you believe, and why?
Quote:I believe in different forms of inner transformation which can also come in the form of spiritual work or understanding. This seems to contradict your previous claim, unless you can accurately define "spiritual" and objectively evidence it exists outside of the human imagination, can you do this?
1) These guys are completely merciless toward Native Americans. The fact that they are shooting on people with European roots means that they don’t even care about local police authorities etc.
2) You know that I don’t really make distinctions between major spiritual teachings. The basis of all religion is that there is a Superior Self beyond this Ego-façade of every man and woman and that we can attune ourselves to it.
I think we should all start doing that. Because our current path does not seem to be leading us to some shiny and beautiful places
3) That’s not what I am saying. What I am saying is that the extremes of our Ego-based self are observable on every level. The “Me first, me, me and only me” attitude is not working. In fact the opposite is working.
In my younger years I used to wonder why some people are sending doctors, food, medicine, schools to some war thorn countries. The act seems futile when you look at how awful the situation on the ground is right?
- No. Each of these kids dying of malaria is a potential for the future. When they that potential decreases to zero. So even if it’s just 10 out of 20000, 10 of these potentials has been saved. And that in turn can save us as a specie (not walls with razor wires on top of them).
/The ironic part is that: It’s usually atheist thinkers who are aware of this fact and will engage in such actions like financing ships like Ocean Viking or Geo Barent that will rescue refugees from the Mediterranean Sea.
- This “non-logical” approach starts with religious / spiritual ways of thinking. Although Religion has no monopoly over it. I agree with that.
Final Part: Individual evolution and the evolution of groups of individuals are very real and measurable. For instance, today we laugh at 19th century colonialist type of Racism. We all know we came from African Primates and that our “racial” features are mainly adaptation to different types of climate and other factors to which we had to adapt as we migrated into new regions.
Other example: In my lifetime I saw how homosexuality that was seen as a mainly “negative” way of living gradually became tolerated and then understood as a perfectly normal physiological and psychological phenomenon.
Yet Other example: In the 1950’s everything was simply thrown away and nature was supposed to deal with it. Today we are trying to create a circular economy. We are developing clean energies and there are even zero-waste people (in the developed world of course) who have already stopped using plastic altogether.
Real spirituality is a type of endeavor that support transformation on an individual scale. If these guys on the video had spared some time to meditate or try to understand the Great Power that created all those trees, rivers, plants and animals, If they could re-establish that “link” I think they would look for other places to produce their meat and/or soya or they would find ways to make money without being harmful to other people and the environment.
/ That’s another big issue too. Spiritual teachings are always reminding us of that: There are ways to support ourselves and make a living without cheating, stealing or hurting others.
These are very down-to earth and observable phenomenon. And spirituality is also evolving. Previous generations simply believed what they are told. Younger generations have a more reason-based approach to spirituality.
