YouTube now has a custom playback speed icon. So, now, I can play this at what I can only assume was Barry Mann's intended speed (x1.35):
Apparently, when Phil Spector was playing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" to Barry Mann for the first time, his initial impression was "Phil, you have it on the wrong speed!" Apparently, he thought it was being played at 33 1/3 RPM when it should have been played at 45. Surprisingly, once I tried to figure out how to speed it up accordingly (with pitch not being effected), I found it actually sounded better. The Wrecking Crew certainly sounds more recognisable at this speed.
