When I’m here I lock the doors at night. I’m not afraid of much but my mother raised ugly kids, not stupid ones.
So what you are saying is that morality is based on Christianity, but that it's terrible and you can't get out of your house because you are fearing for your life and people are even trying to come into your house and kill you?
Morality is based on religion, the present repository is Christianity\Western Society. Everything considered moral in modern society comes with the tacit approval if not blessing of Christendom and it's inbred cousin Humanism.
First principles are important. Why is human life inherently more valuable, regardless it's quality than that of the steer in your hamburger. I assure your more care and empathy is taken to reduce the suffering of a handful of murderers at execution than the trillion or so animals enslaved from birth every year in metal cages and standing knee deep in shit at the stockyard for weeks awaiting the knackers hammer. People got a right to eat though! Yes? Where does that kind of hubris come from? The sense of entitlement to anything and everything on the planet that makes your life easier at the expense of every other sentient being on the planet. Perhaps the belief you were created in God's image, or with the ability to reason, or make agreements and cooperate. It's all the same. Decidedly not natural.
If we were capable to make those agreements and cooperating we wouldn't need giant granite buildings filled with hundreds of thousands of tomes containing rules, regulations, proscriptions, interpretations etc., wouldn't you just sort of know right from wrong naturally? Why would you need; judges, lawyers, police, prisons, correction officers, mental health facilities, armies, treaties.....Something granted you dominion over the planet and everything in it. What do you reckon that is? Nature, hubris or God.
You can draw a perfectly straight unbroken line from the present US Capital, thru Western Europe Empires, the Holy Roman Empire, Rome, Greece, Persia, Babylon and the Code of Hammurabi all the way back to the grain states of Mesopotamia when men discovered that 'chicks dig farmers' and every one has the same first principle. Human dominion. It's the basis for Judaism, Christianity, Islam etc., etc., etc., even that "bald fat guy seated on his ass".
Which brings us full circle to my original statement. Expecting a government to solve the problems it creates by it's very existence is a fools errand.
The last part is perplexing. What are you about mate? Trying to analyze me of something?
Best Regards,
Hippea,
Spring is here, wild onions, garlic, cucumbers and squash. Life is good!
Where there is life, there is competition for resources. Survive long enough to pass on your genes. The rest is religion.
