Just revived my old N64 with a little help from my sister getting me a little hdmi converter thingy so I could use it on my modern TV... so I got to play my favourite racing game of all time, F-Zero X! Nothing else comes close IMO, except perhaps Mario Kart from the SNES (another retro console I should consider getting off ebay now I have proof of concept that I can get it working on my TV).
There's just nothing quite as satisfying as spinning your ship into a group of tightly packed opponents and watching them all explode in F-Zero (or hitting them with a red homing shell in Mario Kart
). I wish there were more racing games with combat, but F-Zero X did it best IMO.
