Because people feel they are defeating and humiliating him, and they enjoy doing this and then gloating about it.

But when he starts telling others, including me, what we think, feel, and believe, I take issue with that. At that point he can lick my loins, as he has lost any call upon my courtesy with his continued rudeness.
