King Charles, while theoretically endowed with a shit ton of power, in practice, the vast majority of it is ceremonial and (for the most part) only really exercised if something has gone very wrong. One of the most consequential times I can remember Elizabeth II using it in my lifetime is when she refused to allow Parliament to debate a bill allowing Parliament sole power to strike against Iraq.
Frankly, these days, it seems like America being a British colony would probably be a step up.
