Related to this is the problem of income disparity. We may say that the instability of a society or nation is in direct proportion to the concentration of wealth.
Yes, and the american flavour (excessive individualism plus lack of public service and social security) accelerated the generation of disparity. I would not be surprised if demographic data can confirm this.
