The most baffling piece of IP Disney owns: the idea of a toy monkey playing cymbals.

But it’s the little guy’s appearance in Toy Story 3 which might prove the most enduring, if only because it may well be his last. According to an SFX Magazine interview, a producer told The Monkey director Osgood Perkins “Disney owns the cymbals because of Toy Story” – presumably referring to a familiar-looking security guard in Toy Story 3.

If you watched this year’s The Monkey and wondered why the monkey drums, this is apparently why.





Thankfully, Matt and Trey didn’t copyright the idea of a monkey playing drums.





Then again, that kit has cymbals.
