It's pretty unflattering make-up, especially those cheeks, and the angle on that image isn't doing her any favours either. That second image is pretty misleading, and was almost certainly selected for that reason.

In fairness, looking at other photos of her from this year, she doesn't look much better. At this point, she looks like she's just skin, bones, and a circulatory system. 



The only exceptions I can find are from the new Wicked movie, and I can only assume it's due to the wonders of makeup and CGI that she looks so presentable.

I’m frequently puzzled as to why people are so concerned with celebrities’ looks.
