I'm going to bust out the drum sander this morning. That should make short work of it. Lots of dust, so it's getting done outside. Also, it would appear that I'm sensitized to oak. Going to have to cover up and use controls to minimize the dust from now on.
That’s unusual. Most sensitive reactions come from exotic woods - padauk, ipe, wenge, and suchlike. I’ll never work wenge again without a hazmat suit.
Regarding your project, I’ve know people to make edge banding with a thickness planer. Seems horrifically wasteful.
