My dad didn't think so. "All our hopes for you are dashed. You'll die of AIDS or an old man on your own. You'll lose your job etc."

Both my parents are dead now. I'm in my 60's. My partner and I have been together for 24 years.

All my dad's comments turned out to be wrong. They hurt like hell at the time but now...

Mum wasn't much better.

Dad was so worried about the extended family finding out... they couldn't care less and just accepted me and my partner.
