I've seen abandoned churches before, but I find abandoned buildings of any kind depressing, so I don't really see that as a victory.
My town is not shrinking, though. There seems to be constant development of houses and plazas cutting into more and more of the green space (it is actually one of the major problems here). So this could mean there are less religious people now.
