Round my way, some years ago, an old church building was converted into a sort of mini retail and conference centre, complete with café. The actual structure of the building was kept intact, which was nice because the architecture is rather interesting. Mind you, the only retailing going on in there has to do with candles, crucifix jewellery and god-squad books, so not much of a change of use really.
On the other hand, what used to be an art shop was recently turned into a church for these idiots. I do hope it's not the start of a trend.
