Hi Bozo (and others),
So you've no love for Nu-Labour? I know I haven't ... although I had issues with socialist labour back then I always understood them, they made sense in many ways.
It is difficult ... even those regarding themselves as progressive can be difficult when you ask them the really tough questions. In some ways the literalist idiots make more sense than those who only believe bits of it ... it's like literalists are imbeciles but the halfway house ones are just plain illogical.
I think the important thing is to get the rationalist view seen and show the wingnuts up as the illogical flakes they are.
I think individual religions can be chosen but I don't think I chose to be an atheist ... science & reason just led me there.

I am a few years older than you, socialist as well as atheist and from a left-wing trades union and political background. I still am a socialist and dangerously left-wing in today's terms. The point is that I think we lived through times when debates were serious and were quite abrasive, so no need to apologise for your debating style...I don't!

I get most published, they then respond, I respond.....but the bias of the press kicks in and they always have the final say! I still continue though, cause I like winding them up!

God squad WANT to believe in God, WANT all that goes with that, forgiveness, judgement, afterlife etc.etc. Atheists, on the contrary, don't see the attraction ( and then justify their own beliefs by way of evidence, reason, probability etc.)
