Happily, they're just playing with stones.
It would be sad to contemplate if they became the dominant species in millions of years time and evolve to be just as idiotically religious as we currently are now. They'll end up thinking we (humans) were gods and anyone of them who exercises skepticism and a little critical thinking to deduce we're just social animals like them who died out long ago will be ostracized from their society.
