Sounds like a terrific system.From what I can gather,Sweden has one of the most civilised welfare systems in the world----supported by very high taxes. ( I have no problems with high taxes if the system is effective and the government reasonably honest)
Here you have a choice of both.
Older people here have private health insurance if they possibly can AS WELL as public coverage.This because there is usually a waiting list of up to THREE YEARS for 'elective' (non emergency) surgery. EG a hip replacement. Last year I needed some plumbing work done.Public hospital; a 2 year wait.I have private insurance (the cost of which the government subisdised by 30%) I had the operation within a week of seeing the specialist.
