The great civil rights crusades of the 1950s and 60s were led by Christians claiming the Scriptures and asserting the glory of the image of God in every human being regardless of race, religion, age or class.

Well, technically this part is correct; granted, they are underestimating the role that people like Malcolm X played in the movement, who were Muslims (at least in name only), but more importantly, this completely disregards the many, many people who claimed the scriptures and asserted that it meant that non-whites weren't deserving of the glory of God.
