I love the feeling of waking up. I used to nap every afternoon and get that good fresh feeling again. Then I started napping all the time. Eventually I got a sleep study and found out I had sleep apnea. During my first sleep study they said they never saw anyone fall asleep any faster than I did. They also said I got no REM state and no deep sleep at all. Now that I have CPAP machine I rarely nap and get great sleep.
Even so, I often wake up in the wee hours of the night for a short while before going back to finish up my night's sleep. I used to hate it until I read that this was the normal human pattern. Apparently in most cultures it isn't unusual to break sleep up this way. It is the going-out-cold for 8 straight hours which is unusual. It helps to have something not too fascinating to do between sleeps.
There is nothing so luxurious feeling as going to sleep after sex. I do occasionally use Ambien. My policy is to never take it during a night of bad sleep. Instead I just take it the next night to make sure I don't get two bad nights in a row. That takes the decision making out of it and I know I can survive one night of no or little sleep okay.
