Any claim that this ability is connected to the Islamic belief system is erroneous. It is however a rare ability, and I have no idea if it has been scientifically investigated.
However, if it were to be, are you absolutely willing to bet these rare cases are completely unexplainable? I think you are mistaking "not currently explained" with "unexplainable". You'd think the major religions would have learnt their lesson about statements like that by now.
