I refuse to give credit to god when it was the kindliness of this woman herself that gave me mercy. I even asked her about it at one point shortly after I began attending church. I asked her, "is it because of Jesus Christ that you are different from the rest?" She raised an eyebrow at me, pursed her lips to keep herself from smiling and said "boy I oughta whoop your ass. I'd be nice to you no matter what." She finally let herself smile at that point and said "But I'd be far more likely to whoop the ass of the people you lived with before, especially if I saw them doin' that shit." In those words. She was fucking cool as hell. XD

But yes. If god was present during all the other shit that had come and would come and he let me sit there and suffer just to stroke his cosmic ego because he wants people to be blindly devoted, then, as Min says: Fuck him. And I must say, I am insulted, greatly, that you would invite me to give thanks not to the kindly old woman, but rather to an unproven quantity, and that I should be thankful for the token mercies in the shitstorm of agony that you also indicate he wrought upon me. If that is truly god's will, then I'll take my chances with Satan; at least he seems to be pretty a pretty straightforward guy, and if the far more logical musings of the Nihilists are any indication Satan's more likely to be the good guy, anyway...
