Figured it might be a singular post... was it then a singular discussion? You mentioned that Phil deconverted you, hence my figuring. I'll say it again: someone deconverted you... and the primary way to do that on a forum is with a post.
I have to wonder, though: were my beliefs shaken so easily, I should never have a unique opinion.
I was a member of that forum for at least a good 3 months. I came in with no previous experience of talking to knowledgeable people on the subject so I had an extremely vague view of the world - quite literally.
Talking to people that have actually read a great deal challenged me from the word 'go'. Phil did a great deal because he knows like I do that Christianity is an historical religion. This is what made me think it was the absolute truth because I thought I was reading the words of disciples and what they saw. They had even written down what Jesus said for God's sake! But I've always been a man who believes in truth with tangible proof. When I finally accepted that the gospels were nothing but hearsay from anonymous people then I realised it's all just wishful thinking.
I was very strong in faith, but unlike most Christians, I believed it to be backed up by tangible evidence. As we all know, there's not a single religion that can come close to proving theirs is the right one. Funny thing is that Christianity seemed so easy to prove because Hercules was the son of.. I mean Jesus..... was the....
It was a process, not just a single post by a single person.
