On a certain level, I don't think you're wrong. The concept of inner peace is part of the promise Jesus makes to those who believe in him, and cannot be given from the world itself, just belief in Jesus.
The idea that we may have inner peace and contentment makes a mockery of the idea that it is obtainable only through Christ.
