Ok, how about I give you a great gift of a million dollars. You just have to work off your ass your whole life to get it. That's basically what you're saying when you suggest your god gives people gifts. If the people still have to work toward them (in the same way as they would have had to if there were no gods at all) then what the hell is the point of the 'gift' in the first place?
You know, when people tell me the skills I have today are because god gave them to me that makes me angry. How dare they diminish the effort I put into them by suggesting it was merely the result of luck or favour of a deity. When others were electing to go out getting drunk or watching tv I was working at my various hobbies to try and better myself. I'm not a great virtuoso, but this is no one's fault but my own. People need to grow the fuck up and take ownership of their successes and failures because that's the only way we're going to make any progress.
