Seems you are very fresh out of the camp Rev. I know it took me years to get over my experience properly. Perhaps 15 years until it really had no influence over me.
In my experience there were no difficulties with the supposed contradictions in the bible. In my understanding what you call something can be interpreted two ways. A lot of what is easily ascribed to God could equally be ascribed to 'not God' or 'chance'. The logic was sound but the interpretation could be loaded.
And then for me belief relies on faith. Belief HAS to be a leap of logic. There is necessarily no demonstrable proof of anything. Of course it is all necessarily personal in nature. I suppose I convinced myself to reject the personal evidence, which is an entirely logical thing to do, given the constricts of the belief.
