I used to make cash on the side to appease my bloodsucking ex wife by walking up to jobsites. Framing and punch out is where it's at. Easy work, tools are cheap, always something to do, never enough hands to do it. Definitely worth a try. Ever given any thought to driving a semi? Also completely awesome and decent pay (they're also always hiring, even if you don't have a CDL).
