I understand that to a hammer every problem looks like a nail but if you are trying to knit a sweater a hammer won't help you in the least. If you are trying to repair a stained glass window (i.e. a very delicate task) a hammer would only destroy the task at hand.
Fatherhood rights are a legal matter. It's not a matter of actually dealing with your enemy, the law does not need to know about personal feuds.
However to deal with someone that has wronged you, you must use everything in your disposal.
Besides, there is no knowing that when the enemy will strike back. If you take precautions and strip your enemy of his reputation, who will he have behind his back when the time comes for him to make his move?
