So I very much appreciate all your advice, it has been invaluable for myself, and I won't hesitate to come back to this forum and discuss other topics now that I have recently "come out" as an atheist.

However, I am very sad to report that my sister has already hastily made a decision to stick with her husband although I was trying to reason with her til I was blue in the face, without cursing, yelling or putting her down.

I would hazard a guess that she is thinking more of her offspring than anything else. Least of all what is GOOD for her

I have learned you cannot always reason with irrational people, they don't see things the way others do.

Nor can you see her perspective mate...it's all good

But now I have another problem. I am really on the fence on whether or not I should sever all ties with my sister and her husband/my best man at my very own wedding, or if I should be a supportive brother even though I know she has done something that I find fundamentally immoral.

DON'T. Keep in touch with your sister and her hubby..... it will annoy the hell out of him. And your sister can use the support. I am thinking that this is going to be a short term situation.

Also, my mother is talking to a lawyer about this, it is also illegal what they are trying to do.

As she should..... Don't get mad, Get LEGAL! This will also put pretentious "son-in-law" in his place.
