Thing is, in trying to reduce the second law to absurdity, SLG is so very close to the answer he seeks it's almost painful to watch. To the best of my understanding - and I concede once again that I am no authority on this - localised pockets of organisation such as here on Earth do indeed speed up the process of entropy in the longer term. That in no way impedes local temporary entropic order, as long as enough energy is being pumped into the system. And we just happen to have a huge fuck-off fusion reactor on our doorstep. Yes, we as biological entities are storing up a whole passal of hurt for whatever will be around at such an unimaginagle future time, but for the here-and-now we're getting a free ride.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
