I don't hate God

I don't believe for a moment that it's possible to hate a religion without hating their god. After all, without a god there isn't much to hate about the religion.

Ofcourse there is. You can hate all the imbeciles who follow the idea of such a god. Hating the god itself which doesn't exist is stupid. How can you hate something that doesn't exist. You don't, you hate the idea of it.

Something doesn't have to be real to gain your love and/or hatred of it. I submit Santa Clause as proof of this. I HATE him! Children all over the globe love him.

Again, you hate the idea of Santa Clause. Not Santa Clause himself. Hating that which does not exist is nonsensical.

I try not to hate any group of people, only the occasional person. Hating god or as you say, the idea of god is the same thing to me. Because I'm not strictly an atheist, I have no problem admitting to christians that I hate their god. I hate them all.

Also, I don't presume to tell people what they should or should not declare to love or hate. If you claim not to hate god - I have no problem with that. As much as that statement may be honest for you it is not honest for me. I hate most all of mankind's gods - I hate the idea of gods. Same thing. Semantics in my humble opinion.

I once professed to be a deist. I was not then, nor am I now, stupid. If you would like to have our intelligence levels compared, through an independent process, I'd be more than happy to bring you down a few pegs, Cinjin. As much as theists saying that atheists hate God pisses me off, expressions of superior intelligence, because of lack of belief, pisses me off even more. Get off your highhorse, before someone knocks you off it.

It is my opinion that believing in something unprovable is stupid - thus "some level of stupidity" is required to be a christian/muslim/whatever. I was calling my own belief in god stupid - thus myself stupid on some small level. You may want to consider some reading comprehension courses ... or at least think before you speak.

Intelligence contest? I have nothing to prove. My record here on AF stands. Believe whatever you wish.
