One huge problem here can be summed up by the expression "The proof of the pudding is in the eating"!
By that I mean... if the Bible truly was teeming with modern day knowledge... why was the church not a DRIVING force behind scientific progress, as opposed to a limiting force?
And if it's all just written too ambiguously for man to understand (hidden in riddles and metaphor and so on) then it's probably going to be quite hard to determine whether it was correct even in hindsight.
