There are a few different places and circumstances by which my various ancestors came to America but most of them were war refugees and draft dodgers. Some were from Prussia who fled the Seven Years War (father's side). Others were from Alsace-Lorraine (mother's side) and so I have some French blood in me as well. It depends on how you count the nationality of the people from that area, since the province traded hands around that time. My Scottish ancestry (father's side) has a similar story.
