Your muscles relax, you feel the last of your thoughts disappear in a haze of calm, you slip deep into a void where the thought processes that make you you simply stop and for a short while you are free. Imagine never waking up from that, imagine that the process by which you spring back to life and go on with your day just doesn't happen.
Would that be so terrible?
Yes.
I like living. Sorry, but I do.
I liken dying to being unconscious, say under anaesthetic - you can be under for hours (and I suppose days, weeks, years) - but it's as simple as you drift off, then instantly come around - nothing has happened in the timeframe...but at least you wake up to contemplate it.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
