I wouldn't worry about it unless he starts LARPing. Those guy make even me look like the cool kid.

I've always wanted to go LARPing, it looks like a hilarious excuse to smack some geeks with rubber swords.

Seriously, why the fuck don't they do it in the UK.

I'm a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an organization that involves itself in what many would call "LARP." In reality, we engage in a martial sport where we suit up in steel armor and beat the crap out of each other with weapons made of rattan. We often have large field melees and "wars" between the different kingdoms in the SCA.

Fighting is a hell of a lot of fun; I encourage you to give it a shot sometime. As Annik said, rattan weapons do not tickle. We don't pull our blows at all, so there is always the possibility of injury.
