Much of new blood in the American scientific community is made up of foreign talents who were culturally insulated from the so called "mid-America". Mid-America can not do without fruits of science, but mostly doesn't care for science.
Perhaps portent of things to come, increasing proportion of the new foreign blood in American scientific community now finds it more advantagous to their career aspirations to return to their native lands.
Some forecasts say the scientific research community of China will be 5-6 times the size of those of American by 2030.
