It was this photograph that inspired James Dean to build his representational look of American youth. James Dean in representing the growing dissatisfaction with the traditional powers could be said to have lead the revolution of individuality in the western world, where it has become difficult for the monoliths of wealth and power to justify their presumed natural position. On the other hand although the subject of this image was dying of T.B. he had been an excellent goalkeeper in his youth. I'm not sure I believe in the evidence, but that is an Absurd thing to say.
